It seems impossibly early with the current season only just into full swing but the SEMSEC Championship Co-ordinators have already had to submit the initial applications for championship approval of the 2011 championships.
We have also made our applications to the circuits for dates to run our various events.
We have a small window of time to decide what we want to change in our championship regulations before they have to be sent to the MSA for approval.
Currently we are not attracting sufficient numbers of competitors generating sufficient income to make events viable so we need to consider how we can attract more competitors in 2011. The alternatives are either considerably higher entry fees in 2011 or no events at all next year. You can help with the redesign of championships by telling us what you like? What you don’t like? What you would like to change and what you think might attract more competitors to our events? Reduced entry fees are not an option unless you can think of something that guarantees us at least an additional 30-40 competitors per event.
Do we need to change the class structure? Do the technical regulations need to change? Do you prefer longer races or more shorter races? Do you want more events at Lydden and would you support all of them? Do you want the championship to visit more venues? If so which? How many events should be included in the championships and should they all be double headers?
Just so you know we already contact all the clubs running other championships and series and offer them slots in our meetings. We also write and email as many of the championship co-ordinators as we can get contact details for each year but, in the main, they stick to events run by the club to which they are affiliated. The answer would therefore appear to be to attract more entries to our own championships and series and/or to introduce a new series which can regularly attract a dozen or more entries.
